In the early hours of Saturday, Ukraine launched a series of drone attacks on Russia, leading to a fuel depot being engulfed in flames, according to officials. The governor of Russia's Belgorod region reported that Ukrainian cross-border attacks resulted in the deaths of at least three individuals. Russia's defense ministry claimed to have intercepted 50 Ukrainian drones overnight, some of which were located hundreds of kilometers away from the border, including near Moscow, the capital. This revelation raises concerns about the reach and capabilities of Ukraine's drone attacks.

 

Footage circulating on social media allegedly showed a massive blaze at a fuel depot in Russia's Smolensk region, confirming the governor's statement that the fire was caused by drones. Governor Vasily Anokhin stated that the air defense forces successfully shot down the aerial vehicles, but falling debris resulted in a tank containing fuel and lubricants catching fire. This incident underscores the potential dangers and collateral damage associated with such attacks.

 

Kyiv has been increasingly targeting Russian oil and gas facilities in recent months, justifying its actions as "fair" retaliation against infrastructure used to support Russia's war efforts.
