On the morning of April 21, the residents of Sevastopol, which is currently under occupation, were startled by loud explosions. As a result, the Crimean Bridge was closed off. The authorities, who were installed by the Kremlin, claimed that this was due to the interception of an anti-ship missile.
Around 07:30, local residents started reporting explosions and witnessed smoke in the area. According to reports, fire engines were dispatched to the northern side of Sevastopol, specifically Sukharna Bay or Hollandia Bay, in response to these explosions.
The occupying forces took measures to block traffic on the Crimean Bridge. It was later revealed by the self-proclaimed governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, that military personnel on a ship in the north successfully repelled an apparent anti-ship missile attack earlier that morning.
Razvozhaev mentioned that the incident resulted in minor debris, which caused a small fire. However, the fire has already been extinguished.
Considering the recent attack on the Dzhankoy airbase by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the subsequent destruction of air defense systems on April 17, it is expected that Russia may face strikes on the Crimean Bridge from Ukraine.
