Republican House of Representatives member Marjorie Taylor Greene revealed that a bill aimed at assisting Ukraine might be up for consideration in the United States next week. She mentioned that Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson will be presenting the document. However, Taylor Greene expressed concerns about Iran's plans to attack Israel soon. Instead of introducing an aid package for Israel this week, Speaker Johnson is expected to link Israeli aid to $60 billion for Ukraine in the following week. Taylor Greene even stated that she would take action to remove Johnson from his position if he proceeds with bringing the Ukrainian package to a vote.
In October 2023, US President Joe Biden requested additional funds of $64.1 billion for Ukraine. On February 13, 2024, the Senate approved $60.1 billion in assistance, but the package has been stuck in the House of Representatives since then.
On April 12, The Times Of Israel reported that the pro-Iranian group Hezbollah initiated a massive shelling of Israeli targets and launched numerous rockets into the country. The Israeli army confirmed that some rockets were intercepted, while others landed in open areas. CBS, citing sources, also reported a US warning about Iran's potential attack on Israeli military targets using over 100 drones and dozens of missiles on April 12.
President Biden expressed his belief that Iran will attack Israel "sooner rather than later." He emphasized the United States' commitment to protecting Israel and providing support to the country.
