Ukraine Warns of Russian Strikes in Unforeseen Locations This Summer

The upcoming summer offensive in Ukraine by Russian troops will feature unexpected strikes across various fronts, potentially targeting the northeastern city of Kharkiv, according to Ukraine's National Guard commander.

Despite recent missile and drone attacks on Kharkiv, Oleksandr Pivnenko assures that Ukrainian forces are prepared to counter any assault. In an interview with Liga net, he acknowledged the likelihood of unpleasant surprises from the enemy but affirmed that their objectives would not be achieved.

While Russia has been gradually advancing in the east, delayed U.S. military assistance is anticipated to be approved imminently, alleviating critical shortages in ammunition and air defenses for Ukraine. Ukrainian officials anticipate a Russian offensive in late spring or summer, with suspicions that Moscow aims to capture the strategically vital eastern town of Chasiv Yar by May 9, coinciding with Soviet Victory Day in World War Two.

Pivnenko admitted to anticipating challenges for Ukrainian forces but remained confident that Russian advances would not result in decisive victories. He speculated that Russian forces might accomplish only a fraction of their objectives, estimating around 10-15%, which he emphasized would not constitute a strategic triumph.
