Ukraine's Officials Report Nine Injured in Odesa Due to Russian Drone Attack

The drone attack carried out by Russia on April 23 in Ukraine's Black Sea port of Odesa resulted in injuries to nine individuals, including four children. The injured victims, including two infants, and three adults were immediately hospitalized for treatment. The attack also targeted the capital city of Kyiv, causing damage to several residential buildings in Odesa and resulting in fires that affected around 14 apartments.

According to Ukraine's air force, Russia launched a total of 16 attack drones and two short-range Iskander ballistic missiles. Fortunately, the country's Air Defence systems were able to successfully destroy 15 of the drones in various regions, including Odesa, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, and Kyiv. However, the fate of the missiles remains undisclosed, raising concerns about their potential impact.

In Kyiv, all the drones launched by Russia were destroyed, as confirmed by Serhiy Popko, the head of the capital's military administration. Thankfully, there have been no reports of damage or injuries resulting from the attack in Kyiv, providing some relief amidst the chaos. However, the situation remains tense as the threat of further attacks looms.

Additionally, Vitaly Kim, the Governor of Mykolaiv, reported that wreckage from a downed drone caused damage to a commercial infrastructure building in the region. This incident highlights the widespread impact of the attack, not only on residential areas but also on vital economic infrastructure.

The drone attack on Ukraine by Russia has further escalated tensions between the two countries, adding to the ongoing conflict in the region. The international community has condemned the attack and called for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. As Ukraine continues to deal with the aftermath of this attack, the focus remains on ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens while seeking justice for the perpetrators.
