Zelenskiy Announces Incoming Long-Range Atacms Missiles in Ukraine War Update


 


Russian drones struck Odesa's shores, inflicting wounds on seven individuals, among them two children, while also directing their assault towards Kyiv, Ukraine's capital, as confirmed by military authorities early Tuesday. Oleh Kiper, governor of the Odesa region, reported several residential structures succumbing to damage and flames. In Kyiv, the vigilant air defense systems thwarted the incoming drone menace, revealed Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv military administration.

 

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy hailed the passing of US legislation in the House of Representatives, awaiting Senate endorsement, which solidifies Ukraine's acquisition of the extended-range Atacms (Army Tactical Missile Systems). These advanced systems, coveted by the Ukrainian military for their potency, rapid deployment, and precision, mark a significant upgrade from the restricted 165km variant. Zelenskiy expressed gratitude to US President Joe Biden for his unwavering support and guidance during their recent phone conversation.

 

Rishi Sunak, unveiling the UK's unprecedented military assistance package for Ukraine, emphasized the ominous implications of Putin's ambitions extending beyond borders. The UK's commitment includes the provision of essential resources to Kyiv, comprising 400 vehicles, 1,600 weapons, and 4 million rounds of ammunition, alongside an additional £500 million in military funding, totaling £3 billion for the fiscal year.

 

While European ministers acknowledge the urgency of bolstering Ukraine's air defense, concrete pledges, particularly regarding the coveted Patriot systems, remain elusive. Despite Germany's pledge of an additional battery, reluctance persists among EU nations, citing the integral role Patriots play in national defense strategies.

 

Volodymyr Zelenskiy condemned Russia's calculated assault on Kharkiv, epitomized by the shattering of a 240-meter television tower, as a deliberate endeavor to render Ukraine's second-largest city inhospitable. As efforts to restore communication infrastructure unfold, Zelenskiy reiterated the city's resilience and urged residents to utilize alternative mediums for information dissemination.

 

In defiance of Russian claims, Ukraine's military asserts control over Novomykhailivka, situated southwest of Donetsk, dispelling assertions of Russian advancements. Amidst escalating tensions, Poland's President Andrzej Duda affirmed readiness to host nuclear arms if Nato deems it necessary to counter Russia's military buildup in Belarus and Kaliningrad.
