Eastern Ukraine Struck by Russian Attack, Resulting in 5 Fatalities

On Wednesday, tragic incidents unfolded in Ukraine's eastern Kharkiv and Donetsk regions, resulting in the loss of five lives, as confirmed by local authorities.

In the northeastern Kharkiv region, adjacent to the Russian border, a guided bomb strike claimed two lives, as disclosed by the region's governor. This region, which endured occupation by Russian forces following the invasion of February 2022, continues to face relentless bombardment from Russian artillery.

In the town of Zolochiv, approximately 15 kilometers (9 miles) from the Russian border, two guided aerial bombs struck on Wednesday morning, as reported by Kharkiv regional governor Oleg Synegubov during a national television address. Synegubov further conveyed via Telegram that the attack resulted in the loss of two lives and left six civilians injured, including a young boy aged 11. Notably, photographs shared by Synegubov depicted billowing black smoke emanating from numerous parked vehicles set ablaze by the explosions.

In a separate incident within the Kharkiv region, near Kupiansk city, Russian shelling claimed the life of a 67-year-old woman in Lelyukivka village, as confirmed by Synegubov.

Moving to the eastern Donetsk region, specifically the town of Girnyk situated approximately 15 kilometers from the front line, Vadym Filashkin, the head of the region's military administration, reported two fatalities and six injuries resulting from Russian attacks with Uragan rocket launchers. The casualties included a 57-year-old woman and a 64-year-old man, as communicated by Filashkin via Telegram.

These recent attacks underscore Moscow's employment of new potent guided aerial bombs in its ongoing offensive, marking a distressing escalation in the conflict.
